Peter Frampton's "Camel" shows the musician's evolution as a songwriter and guitarist. The album bears the name of his touring band and includes the big hits "Lines On My Face," "Don't Fade Away" and a fantastic cover of Stevie Wonder's "I Believe (When I Fall In Love With You It Will Be Forever)." "Camel" also features one of the fan favorites, the classic rock anthem "Do You Feel Like We Do," which has been a highlight of Frampton's legendary live performances for decades.
Shane Buettner of Intervention Records worked for months with Universal's archival team, scouring archives in the U.S. and U.K. for the best-sounding tapes. Several tape sets, including tape copies from the 1970s, were sent for mastering and evaluated by Buettner and mastering pro Chris Bellman.
The best tapes are 1/2″ security copies from the 1990s A&M security program. They sound sensational, dynamic, detailed and vibrant. Combined with Chris Bellman's work on the mixing console and the superb mastering chain at Bernie Grundman Mastering, this hybrid SACD finally lets you hear what Peter Frampton and his band really put on tape.
