This SHM-SACD features two symphonies by the Swiss-born French composer Arthur Honegger: The 3rd Symphony "Liturgique" and the 2nd Symphony for String Orchestra and Trumpet. The recordings with the Berliner Philharmoniker and Herbert von Karajan took place in August 1969 in the Französischen Kirche, St. Moritz, and in September 1969 in the Christuskirche, Berlin. The remastering for Universal Japan took place at the Emil Berliner Studios.

This title is an SHM SACD. This format is the further development of the single-layer SACD and uses a particularly light-transparent plastic (Super High Material). It allows a much better readability of the pit-land structures on the surface than is possible with hybrid SACDs. Universal's SHM SACDs are generally re-digitized to DSD from the albums' master tapes without any changes. SHM SACDs can be played on any SACD player.
