With "Voices" and "Private Eyes" Hall And Oates became famous, with "H2O" they capitalized on this success. Once again, Daryl Hall and John Oates mastered the melodic, soulful blend of pop, soul and new wave for which they became known. By 1982, however, when the duo had already virtually mastered American pop, they took their songwriting a step further. "H2O" is a more serious, ambitious album than its predecessors and once again contains three top ten hits with "Maneater," "One on One" and "Family Man."
